How to force the YOAST SEO panel to the bottom of the WordPress editor

Need to force the Yoast SEO settings panel for individual posts to the bottom when writing articles and pages in WordPress? Here’s how!

I ran into this on a recent project where the Yoast SEO panel was appearing above a number of custom fields in the editor, which wasn’t ideal in terms of laying out the post editor settings.

What I wanted was to have the Yoast panel appear last so content editors were able to complete their writing and custom fields entries one after the other, thus keeping content entry flowing, have them take the next step of managing the SEO settings for that article.

If you want to do the same, open up your theme’s functions.php file and paste in the following:

// shove YOAST settings panel in editor to bottom
add_filter( 'wpseo_metabox_prio', function() { return 'low'; } );

Save your changes and you should now see Yoast move to the bottom of your editor!

Have fun!
